Your Birthdate: August 31

You're a pretty traditional person. If it's lasted, it's probably good.
You seek stability - both in your career and your romantic relationship.
In return, you're very loyal and predictable. Which is usually a good thing.
Without a partner, you feel lost. Being with someone is very important to you.

Your strength: Your dependability

Your weakness: You hate being alone

Your power color: Midnight blue

Your power symbol: Shell

Your power month: April

its just been brought to my attention (more like reminded) by eli's post from quite a while ago, that i am feeling quite lonely. and i feel the urge to vent....on the internet? not a good idea.

however, i too feel like i am somehow defective. i am incapable of liking someone realistic. i dont want unrequited lone anymore, dammit! everytime i see a couple together, i get depressed.
(by myself-linkin park comes on)

-_-

my life is a dark abyss slowly spiraling downwards (that was for you nello)

why cant i find loooooove?!

if im killed by the questions like a cancer, then i'll be buried in the silence of the answer.

Asia Trip: Day Six [Jul. 25th, 2006|01:18 pm]
[Current Location |Beijing]
[mood | cheerful]

Bonjour!

today we began the day with a trip to the silk factory. it was mind boggling to see how such beautiful quilts can be made with a coccoon! they gave us a tour explaining every step. i never new how durable and tough silk could be! they were selling blankets for like 35 dollars but i didnt want to charge it to the card because it wasnt an emergency and it was over 20 dollars. i get the dirtiest looks when i ask if i can use a card. after the silk factory, we went to the beijing zoo to go see the giant pandas. THEY WERE SO CUTE! they had 6 in seperate exibits and they were being adorable! half of nello's asia footage so far is of the pandas. then, we headed to the pearl factory and looked about. they offered me freshwater black pearl studs for 20 bucks but i couldnt buy it, because i would feel guilty. whatevs. i'll buy my pearl stuff in thailand. at night we went to huttond, a very dark place with bars and night clubs and places where you can really bargain. it was really cool. oh, i dont think i've mentioned anything about the bathrooms. they're holes. in the ground. surrounded by porcelain. thats it. its like a mass porta potty because there's a bunch in one room. while we were in huttond i had to go take care of business and our tour guide, lucy, says "its a public bathroom" and i think its ok, they're all public. then i walk in and see its really public. there arent any doors. ew. we just came back to the hotel and had some dinner here. i had a cheeseburger and it was amazing. not as good as my dad's, though.

still missing you!

Asia Trip: Day Five [Jul. 24th, 2006|10:19 am]
[Current Location |Beijing]

*excited screech* WAAAAAAAH!

guess where i went today? the great wall of china! it was impressive. we got there and the girls dressed up in little chinese mistress outfits and the guys dressed up in emperor and chinese warrior outfits. yes, i have the laminated pic and ill bring it back. then our tour guide told us "go have fun" and told us to climb, just be back by 12:30. no one wanted to climb. well, no one but me. you guys know me, i cant go to THE great wall of china and just admire from AFAR! so, climbed it i did. i climbed the hell out of that wall. ok, i must admit, i felt defeated by it. i climbed up to the top of a mountain, up to a bathroom and then, since that little hut was the goal i set for myself, i turned back and headed down. i have never exercised to a point where my legs start shaking uncontrollably. and thats exactly what they were doing when i sat down after i met up with everybody else. once i passed the last bit of stairs, there was a very long slanted bit of wall, and i started running uncontrollably. i couldnt stop myself. i got kinda scared, and even moreso when i saw that there was one long flight of stairs before getting off the wall. i clung onto the side and used that to brake before plummetting to my seemingly imminent doom. im not mello-dramatic at all... after the great wall we headed to the jade factory and saw jade carvings being made and we saw all the jade products they had. we got a tour guide and everything. after everyone did a little bit of shopping, nello and i start walking around and notice we're being watched by the employees. then a girl behind the counter where we were at began making observations and complimenting jaanelle. then, three guys (employees) plock over and start talking to her and they're all telling her that she is really pretty and whatnot and asking us where we are from. one of the guys asked us for an american dollar and he gave us the equivalent to 1 dollar in korean money. i quickly took a picture of them with nello and then we hopped on the van and headed to the tomb of the members of the ming dynasty. unfortunately, i wasnt able to appreciate it that much because i was soooo tired from the climb i was about to collapse. when we were heading back to the hotel we hit traffic and were caught in it for about 3 hours (that ride is normally about 1 hour). we had dinner here at the hotel and now we came up and are going to sleep.

P.S. were gonna see the pandas tomorrow!!!

i love you all!

Asia Trip: Day Four [Jul. 24th, 2006|09:53 am]
[Current Location |Beijing]
[mood | dorky]

Hello, loves!

today we drove to the forbidden city. it was beautiful! and huge! i took a lot of pictures. there was a museum there and we checked out all these relics. they had some of the emperors' jewelry and his mistresses' as well. they had pearls the size of golf balls. and huge platinum rings with giant diamonds and sapphires. did i mention the city was huge? it took forever to walk through it. oh, and did you know that the ancient chinese had a starbucks in the forbidden city? because they totally did. it was great. we saw a bunch of cute guys there and we kinda ogled them for a bit. oh, i forgot to mention that we are like aliens to the chinese. justin, one of the people with us is blonde, and people kept asking to take pictures with him. one man even elbowed his mother, snatched him and posed him with his son. it was crazy. and one little chinese boy took a picture of me without my permission but i pretended to not notice. once we got back from the forbidden city, we got ready at the hotel to go to a chinese acrobatic show. it was some of the craziest stuff i've ever seen! jaanelle and i took a little bit of video so i might be able to show you guys some of the craziness. the male acrobats were cute too. haha. afterwards, we were all dead tired but headed to a restaurant were everyone ate peking duck. i didnt because i saw the chefs were using doctor's masks and gloves while cutting it and only while cutting the duck. yummm, avian flu.

missing you,
Meev

[mood | Nello, I'm going to kill you.]

Well today we woke up pretty early to go have breakfast in Tokyo's world famous Fish Market. Rumored to have the best sushi around, we couldn't pass that oppertunity up. We walked around the Fish Market with all sorts of port transportation whizzing about, nearly running us over. we looked for a specific restaurant that was supposedly the best, but when we got there, there was a very, very long line and we just didnt have to time to be waiting, because we had to get to the airport. We finally found another one and ate there. it was one of those traditional places where you sit on the floor and take your shoes off. i ordered some tuna sashimi. it. was. amazing! you could tell just by looking at it that it was the best of the best. i'll show you guys pictures. one thing i've noticed is that we are the loudest people in all of japan. every one is so quiet and polite and we are the group of cubans that provide about 1/2 of all the noise in japan. after having that life-changing sushi, we headed out to the airport. after checking in and going through all the security, jaanelle and i headed to -- what else-- a starbucks that we saw and ordered a pair of frappiccinos. after trying these we thought to ourselves, is there anything that the japanese can't do better than us? i mean, the streets are spottless, they're polite, good food AND frappuccinos?! haha. well after that we boarded the plane to beijing and said farewell to japan for a while. we were kind of sad that we didnt get to stay for a longer time. *5 hours later* we're in china. beijing, to be exact. and i am feeling a new kind of tired. the kind that feels that you are drifting between life and death. bed. now. goonight.

P.S. people-watching was jaanelle's and my favorite passtime. the guys in japan were gorgeous.
P.S.S. Jaanelle and her mom just killed my blowdryer, sorry mom.

reassuring you that im still alive...sort of,
Meev

Hellooooooo!
Day two was so much fun! We had breakfast in the hotel and the food was great. I had lychee juice(!) and it was amazing!!! We then headed to the train station and headed to ueno to check out a temple. The place was beautiful. I cannot do it justice by describing it, so you'll have to see the pictures when I get back. There were a bunch of souvenier shops around the temple so I bought some things for my friends. We then headed to the famous street in Harajuku and much shopping was accomplished there. I got a new purse that is mushroom shaped! We spent hours and hours and I had a blast. Finally, we headed to the hotel to get ready to go out to dinner to a really fancy restaurant with some family friends of Martica's where we were served by the owner himself! There I had the best sushi ever! It was so good I wanted to cry! We had about 7 courses and we nearly had to be rolled out of the restaurant, we were so full. We took a taxi back to the hotel and we are so tired! I'm going to sleep!

P.S. I recognized a lot of places that I had seen in video games and freaked out! It was so cool!

Lots of Tokyo love,

Asia Trip: Day One [Jul. 20th, 2006|11:14 am]
[Current Location |Tokyo, Japan]
[mood | pooped]
[music |Snoring]

Hello all!

Well, day one in Tokyo has passed. It is amazing here! I normally don't like big cities but this one is simply breathtaking and clean! We arrived at 2:14 pm local time and had to wait in line for a long time. we then took a bus to our hotel which kind of doubled as a tour for us, because the bus had a lot of stops. We finally arrived at the hotel around 5:15 pm and I then took a shower and got ready to head out and take a cab to the fashion center of Harajuku. It was utter chaos there! Every employee of every store was shouting at the top of their lungs, announcing a sale. There was a very large variety of clothes and there were some styles that were very unfamiliar to me. After a little bit of looking around Harajuku, we headed towards Shibuya, another fashion attraction around 9:30 pm. We walked for quite some time trying to find a sushi restaurant to go eat dinner. It was alarmingly difficult to find a restaurant that had sushi; ironic, don't you think? we finally find this "private" restautant which has booths for every group, so it feels like you're only there with the people you came with. The food was amazing! I had some salmon, tuna and..something else sashimi and also had some shrimp spring rolls. When we finally left, we tried finding a part of Shibuya that exclusively sells the clothes Jaanelle and I are looking for. However, it was difficult to find someone with good enough english skills to understand what we were saying. My japanese speaking skills weren't advanced enough to ask about that either. So we headed back to the hotel and we find ourselves in the present. It is past midnight now and I'm going to sleep. I took some photos, I'll try to figure out how I can get those to you.

P.S. I don't have much to say about the trip over other than it was looooooong! Nello and I people watched a lot and acted like idiots as usual. Oh! But flying first class was insane! The seats are huge, and are like, electronic, you have your own T.V., you're fed every so often and you could ask for basically anything you wanted.

Lots O' Luuuurve,
Meev
